Background
US president Donald Trump promised to deport 12 million illegal migrants. Most of them are expected to be deported to Mexico, although not all migrants are Mexican. Is Mexico ready to absorb this flow? President Trump also promised to fight Mexican drug cartels. However, migrants abandoned at the Mexican border could be an ideal prey for the cartel networks.
Some European political parties also promise massive deportations. Could Mexican experience be a useful guide?
