Martin Breum is a Danish journalist and author, specialised in the Arctic affairs. Regular contributor for the media in Denmark, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Norway, and ArcticToday.com in the US. Background
Russian-Ukrainian war affects the Arctic on diverse levels: cooperation, security, environmental programs, climate change, international scientific cooperation on the climate, physical proximity of the warring parties, concentration of nuclear heads, and growing commercial and strategic interest of China and Japan for the region.
Before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Arctic Council, an international organisation focusing on regional cooperation, was among the best functioning international bodies. Currently it is in crisis. One third of the Arctic belongs to Russia.
Martin Breum will address the major challenges affecting the Arctic.
