Speakers
Heather Grabbe is a senior fellow at Bruegel, as well as visiting professor at University College London and KU Leuven. The focus of her research is the political economy of the European Green Deal and how the climate transition will change the EU’s international relationships and external policies.
Alberto Alemanno is Jean Monnet Professor in European Union Law at HEC (Paris), and one of the leading voices on the democratization of the European Union.
Marlene Laruelle, Ph.D., is Research Professor of International Affairs and Political Science at the Elliott School of International Affairs, The George Washington University. She is also Director of the Illiberalism Studies Program at GW and the former director of the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (IERES). Trained in political theory, she explores the notion of illiberalism and how nationalism and conservative values are becoming mainstream in different cultural contexts. She is the editor of the Oxford Handbook of Illiberalism (2024).
Background
Different polls predict an important increase of the far-right MPs in the European Parliament. If that is the case, on which policies could they have the greatest impact? Far-right parties have different views on several key policy issues. Two leading EU experts will reflect on possible policy changes.
