Marty Baron covered the first mandate of the current US President Donald Trump.
Background
The second mandate of the US President Donald Trump has been marked by disruptions in internal politics and foreign affairs. Open animosity towards mainstream media has been constant under Trump’s mandates.
Did the media foresee such profound changes? How should current events and politicians be covered? What is the role of The Washington Post, The New York Times other legacy media in time when far-right, partisan reporting, conspiracy and unethical publications are increasing their influence and outreach?
Should legacy media try to retain the existing readership or attempt to bridge ideological divides?
Marty Baron has been covering the US politics for almost 50 years: what is new and what is old in the current political and media circumstances?
