Carlos Heredia is a full-time professor at the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE) in Mexico City. He served as a member of Mexico’s federal congress from 1997 to 2000.

Previously, he served as a government official in the Ministry of Finance, and the state governments of Michoacán and Mexico City.

Since 2012, he has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Mexico Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C.

His latest book ‘Geopolitical Landscapes of Donald Trump: International Politics and Institutional Characteristics of Mexico-Guatemala Relations’ was published by Routledge in 2023.

Heredia writes a regular opinion articles for Mexico’s daily El Universal.

Heredia obtained his undergraduate degree at ITAM (Mexico City), his MA at McGill University (Montréal, Canada) and the PhD at UNAM (Mexico City).
